Becky Horne started her journey in September of 2010.  Becky, 40, is married to Justin, works full-time as an office manager at a car dealership, has 2 children, Austin, age 20 and Shelby age 13.  She began a weekly program of weighing-in with a support group and a desire in her heart to feel better.  I'll be interviewing Becky tomorrow morning and will be reporting on how she achieved her amazing results!!

February is Heart Month

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States: one in every three deaths is from heart disease and stroke, equal to 2,200 deaths per day.  Friday, February 3, is National Wear Red Day to show support for women's heart health.  

Knowing the risk factors for heart disease and stroke and making healthy lifestyle choices everyday can mean the difference between life and death or disability.

Save the Date for Chick-fil-A Leadercast 2012

Last year about this time, my childhood friend and CEO of the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce, Jackie Krutsch invited me to an event called Chick-fil-A Leadercast.  The event was co-sponsored by the Chamber and held at Van Buren First Baptist Church.  I went to the event really just for Jackie, because her friendship means so much to me and I thought I could show up for the morning and then duck out after lunch and get back to the office to get some work done before the weekend.

Blazing a New Trail

Since my days as Regional Director for the American Heart Association I have had an interest in health promotion.  I have always enjoyed helping people, yes I'm a people pleaser, and I like to see people happy, healthy and thriving.  I guess it's the mothering instinct or some such stuff but I think it is important to leave the place (or the person) better than when we found it (them).
